MTB Slavonian adventure

Slavonia, home of the oldest European city, Vinkovci. Very unknown fact, but the one we are very proud of as thr city was started and existed long before Romas built theirs or came later to conquer the area, spreading their empire across Europe.

Though Slavonia is usually considered as a very flat area, we will take you on MTB adventure through “islands” beaming with lush oak forests overlooking the never-ending fields of wheat, corn and hops.

 

From peaks of Psunj mountain, we will follow the perfectly-flowing single track towards the geothermal hot springs of Lipik. With legs well-rested, but our palms white-knuckled we will ride old Roman roads through vineyards of Pozega, where local tribes had made wine long before the Romans came into scene. Thermal springs in Lipik will loose the cramped legs and give us well deserved recoup of both the body and the mind, prepping us for the next day.

We will descent the Psunj only to be greeted by Papuk mountain just a finger away, at least this is how it looked on the map! Papuk trails are more relaxed, giving us more opportunity to wind up and have fun. Oak forest will provide shade from the heat and creeks along the trails will offer a well deserved reason to stop and refresh ourselfes. 

 

From Papuk we will traverse to Kopacki rit National park.

 

Our last day is dedicated to Kopacki rit, the largest and most preserved intact wetlands of the Danube delta. We will ride the longest wooden trail in the park through picturesque alluvial plains, having a fun day of fartlek while the sun is slowly diving into the calm waters mixed with scenes of wildlife's daily routine happening in their natural habitat.
