Karlovac 4 River and Lakes Sup Adventure

Once a borderline in the middle ages and stronghold against the Ottoman empite, Karlovac kept it star shape form of the ancient town till these days.

Rivers were used as a natural barrier, stopping the enemy in transferring it's army and cavalry across watter.

We won't have any conquering intentions but while paddle board on the rivers around Karlovac where we will be able to see many of the historical castles, fortresses and border posts. Some date back to 14 and 15 century.

Rivers will enable us to explore the area and soak in the history and heritage from the distance imaginning how it was to be part of this unstable part of the world.

Our tour will start from Ozalj, we will paddle board on Kupa river from Munjara, hydro powered plant designed partially by Nikola Tesla himself. Flowing to the south Kupa, will enter the city of Karlovac where it meets Dobra, Mreznica and Korana.

Our day off will be used to camp on one of the remote agro tourism house holds where all the food and produce is taken from the farm itself.  Early morning waking up while the fog is meandering through the valey bellow is worth getting up a bit earlier. Our strong coffee will help you with this endevour, while the breakfast is preparred.

Kupa and Korana are slow flowing rivers, allowing us to enjoy the surroundings being enriched by the guide's stories in history and heritage of the area. Dobra and Mreznica are much faster and here we will have scale 1-2 rapids to test our paddle boarding skills under the trained eye of your guide. These rapids will bring a lot of fun and we will have the opportunity to jump from the small waterfalls into the calm pools bellow. Brunch will be served during the day right on the river banks, from our dry bags, serving local produce as we always value small business' efforts and the quality they provide.

Wildlife sighting along the river banks is very often, red deers are regular visitors of the banks. 

Our adventure will be spiced up with a visit to Ogulin, a town that was once fort against the Ottomans and their intrusions in the area. Nowadays it's preserved gem of an ancient town encircled with many legends and fairy tales we will make alive during the tour of the old town and its museum.
